Inaugural Meeting for Peachhead-Businesses Networking Group
August 8, 2007
Dana Ehrlich and Elizabeth Rodgers greeted a full house at the Beverly Hills Country Club.
Laurelle Johnson of Innerwealth Communications was introduced to talk about the Elevator Speech that is essential for everyone to succinctly describe their business. http://www.innerwealthspeakers.com/
The elements of an elevator speech include:
Name
Name of Business
(not necessary to include your title or position)
Profile of the perfect client
(i.e.: email entrepreneurs, women business owners)
Give a reasonable result and be very specific
(i.e.: I’m going to give you an answer to the question
“what do you do?”
The elevator speech is organic – it changes as you and your business change
The 4 P’s of the Elevator Speech
Prepare your statement
Practice
Perform - get feedback/make changes
Present – take it out on the road
The #1 fear for women in business is marketing – remember it’s not about you! You’re putting your business and services out there.
Following Laurelle Johnson was Speed Networking. Similar to Speed Dating and probably more fun and with better results. Starting with the table you were seated at, each person was to attempt their elevator speech and then ask the group for something they needed to improve their business or fill a void (i.e.: I need a good web designer). Anyone at the table that could fulfill the need wrote it on their business card and gave it to the person in need to follow-up with after the meeting. Each person was allowed approximately one minute. After the table was finished everyone made an organized switch to their next table to do one more round.
The meeting was adjourned about 11am with great enthusiasm for the event and the future of the Peachhead- Businesses Networking Group.
